MASTER OF THE OCEAN FESTIVAL STARTS WITH EXTREME WEATHER!
CABARETE, Dominican Republic— 23rd of February, 2020
Since nature rules during the Master of the Ocean, the day that was supposed to be an easy-going festival day was dominated by squalls, sporadic rain showers and waves from 6 to 8 feet high and up to 10 feet high during sets. The most complete event of the planet that includes water sports professionals in the disciplines of surf, windsurf, kitesurf and SUP from the whole world started with an enthusiastic, although extreme, atmosphere and there were not a lack of incidents that fortunately did not turn out to be very serious.
Before the opening ceremony, Brian Talma came out of the water with his board broken in two and with a big smile typical of the Actionman from Barbados (his legendary nickname). Brian is the competitor with very contagious energy and he is the creator of the Beach Culture World Tour promoting Organic Tourism. After Talma, trouble followed the athlete with rasta hair and sunkissed skin from Denmark, Michael Allman. Michael was riding some huge waves and after he saw Brian Talma wipe out he also wiped out after taking on a huge wave, which catapulted his paddle through the air hitting him in the face. He will wear his “mark of the Master of the Ocean 2020” with pride he says.
The competition was officially inaugurated after a solemn ceremony presided by the coordinator Patricia Hiraldo and the Founder Marcus Bohm. Ramón Cruz, Director of the Tourism Promotion Office of Cabarete, officials from the Ministry of Tourism and other officials of high rank from the Ministry of Defense were also present.
The first day of the Master of the Ocean 2020 could not have had a better start full of adrenaline and expectations. On the 24th everyone is expecting big wave conditions and more wind so that the local and international gladiators can shine with their impressive feats.
